Blithe Spirit is a improbable farce by Noël Coward.  The play concerns the socialite and novelist Charles Condomine, who invites the  eccentric medium and clairvoyant Madame Arcati to his house

to conduct a séance, hoping to gather material for his next book. The scheme backfires when he is haunted by the ghost of his wilful and temperamental first wife, Elvira, after the séance. Elvira makes continual attempts to disrupt Charles's marriage to his second wife, Ruth, who cannot see or hear the ghost.

CHARLES  CONDOMINE

Charles is a sophisticated and debonair. He finds himself caught between his two wives – past and present. REQUIRES PHYSICAL ACTIVITY.

 

RUTH CONDOMINE

Second wife of Charles Condomine. She is witty and sophicicated. She is convinced that Charles has lost his mind. Her marriage to Charles is not a passionate one – more of caring and status.

 

ELVIRA (CONDOMINE)

The ghost of Charles Condomine’s first wife. Only Charles can see and hear her. Elvira was the love of Charles’ life.

 

DR. BRADMAN

Local doctor, friend of the Condomines. He is quite skeptical about the occult.

 

VIOLET BRADMAN

Wife of Dr. Bradman. She is simple and naïve. She is very excited to be in the presence of a medium.

 

EDITH

The Condomine’s maid. She is unsophisticated, unschooled in serving to high society. She plays an important role in the outcome/twist of the play. REQUIRES FAST PHYSICAL ACTIVITY.

MADAME ARCATI

Eccentric, boisterous local spiritualist and medium. REQUIRES PHYSICAL ACTIVITY. WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING UNIQUE THAT WILL MAKE OUR MADAME ARCATI DIFFERENT FROM EVERYONE ELSES
